We are committed to providing the best eye care to you & your family
Did you know that 85% of patients with dry eye have meibomian gland dysfunction (MGD) which is progressive if not treated
Healthy Meibomian glands secrete oils into the tear film which prevents tear evaporation. There should be row of long white glands on each eye lid.
When meibomian glands get blocked with hardened oil, they will begin to atrophy (die). If we don't clear the blockage, the atrophy can become severe.
LipiFlow and Tear Care are in-office thermal treatments to liquify the hardened oils and clear them out of the gland.
Intense Pulse Light (IPL) near the base of the meibomian glands has a thermal and anti-inflammatory effect on the glands.
Low Level Light Therapy (LLLT) has a thermal effect as well as healing properties by stimulating the mitochondria.
